Australian National University (ANU) researchers spoke with more than 50 householders across Australia to explore their perspectives on the concept of a shared battery as part of ARENA funded research on local energy models. The webinar will present the detail on these findings as well as a case study of responses to a proposed community battery in Broome, Western Australia, through a collaboration between ANU and Horizon Power.
Through in-depth discussions with householders we now have an emerging understanding of the range of responses householders may have to local energy storage projects. The discussions revealed that whether or not the proposed business model is viewed as a “community battery”, will depend on a range of considerations including how householders are engaged and how the benefits are distributed.
The webinar will include presentations by Hedda Ransan-Cooper, Research Leader from ANU Battery Storage and Grid Integration Program and Jaryd Revere, Program Manager at Horizon Power. An online audience Q&A session, moderated by Hugo Temby, will follow the presentations.
